The Halluci Nation, formerly known as A Tribe Called Red, is an Indigenous electronic music group blending instrumental hip hop, reggae, moombahton and dubstep-influenced dance music with elements of Indigenous music, particularly vocal chanting and drumming. The group is a duo from the Six Nations of the Grand River in southern Ontario.
“To have a renowned band like The Halluci Nation help us kick off seven days of celebration of sport and culture is very special,” said AWG spokesperson Eden Boutilier in a statement.
The committee has also chosen torch bearers from every community in the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region. The Torch Relay will include Fort McMurray, as well as Fort Fitzgerald, Fort Chipewyan, Fort McKay, Anzac, Saprae Creek, Conklin and Janvier.
