From modeling on broken glass for LGBTQ+ rights to an endless dick slip in the UK, SAGE SUEDE remains an enigma. The new album Renegade includes samples of a cop giving him a citation for drug paraphernalia and many tracks about his “deadly dank” for hip hop fans.
This follows the more feminine energy on electropop & reggaeton release Savage Summer, only 2 months earlier and more recently Sage has even released a Spanish reggaeton single called Chiflada. But is he chiflado, eccentric or just crazy?

The best way to get to know someone for real is to find someone that spends time with them often, so we caught up with Sage Suede’s personal photographer ATXBlade to get to know the man behind the music.
- How long have you known Sage Suede and how did you meet?
I’ve known of Sage for a while. One of my buddies told me about him and thought we would work well together. About a year ago I asked him on Instagram if he would like to shoot with me and we have been working together ever since.
- Which of his music videos have you recorded?
Summer Fling, New Diet, Just Trippin, and Lil Peach (both the medley and original 8-bit versions).

3. Why is Sage a muse for your photography?
The camera loves him. He is confident in outrageous outfits and brings great ideas to our shoots. His image fits my visual style as a photographer and I never get bored of editing his photos.
4. Has there been sexual tension with any of the other models?
Oh yes, many of the models have wanted to play with Sage. It’s a real emotion that translates well to the photography I shoot. I try to bring a very relaxed atmosphere to my shoots and it’s really a safe space for models to explore and express themselves.
- Has he hooked up with any of the other models? I’m pretty sure with several and maybe even immediately after the photoshoot. You could even say technically during a photoshoot, but on a pure technicality. Kind of like a fumble in football.
I’m not surprised that my models find each other attractive, but sometimes when they are drunk and stoned these things just happen… They are adults, so I am not here to judge them when they accidentally have a dick slip in a thong or a silk robe- just to take really good pictures for them. I don’t judge my models, even when their bulges are problematic.
- We’ve heard about Sage Suede’s history with drugs and now he is “chiflado”. Does Sage ever get too high on set?
No, he usually gets a little stoned but is always professional and puts the photoshoot first. He gets in his comfort zone and his artistic energy flows. Kind of like Snoop Dogg…
- Do you think that nudity is necessary in the gay community?
It’s not necessary, but it does get you noticed. I’m comfortable shooting models, clothed or nude. Most of the time, less clothing gets more attention in the gay community.
8. How many models have you photographed naked? Are they all drunk and high?
A lot *laughs*. No, most models are completely sober and I don’t bring substances myself or encourage anyone, but Sage is wild and he just goes hard. I guess that is what he is talking about being chiflado.
Wow, so you must be an expert at taking professional quality nudes. Can you tell our readers more about how to take the perfect nude
I recommend having a professional quality photographer like me, so that you can set the lighting. However, if you are at home then it’s important to first find a good angle, like overhead for selfies. Don’t be shy, be bold. The best lighting might be natural… near a window.
However, it’s important to remember that for nudes you might want to imply something like an interest, preference or a position. Be creative! People have a lot of good angles that are waist level or lower when they are taking nudes and it’s a lesser known fact because many people think more about photographing their face.- Is there always vodka at his photoshoots?
That’s up to Sage. Sometimes it’s there but it depends on his mood or goals for the shoot. In one photoshoot with Jay a.k.a. Mister Lonestar Leather 2022 (pictured), they were taking shots and swigs of cherry limeade vodka for at least 30 minutes and even kissed on a dare during a drinking game.
It was masculine, which is odd but they were so bro about it and then they won an online bet. I think it may have been lucrative. A lot of guys lost, but they won the pot that day.
11. The lighting in your work is striking and dynamic, like neon. Has the photography been published in any magazines?
Thank you! I have been published in DNA magazine in Australia and was also a photographer on Sage’s historic nudes in The Daily Star UK, as well as many online blogs.
