A private Great Barrier Reef tropical island located 3km off Cape Palmerston National Park on the Central Queensland coast, and 60km southeast of Mackay could become your reality if you have a spare $1.75 million laying around.
Private Islands Online, island and resort specialist Richard Vanhoff said Temple island has its own 1100m private airstrip making it easy to get to, and boasts a four bedroom high set home located on the islands highest point with amazing views and everything you need to live your dream.
“This Island is extremely well priced for an exotic Island of this size. If nature is what you seek then this totally private 123-acre island with a 21.5 acre lease is just perfect with a rainforest and an abundance of orchids and exotic plants,” Mr Vanhoff said.
“The rest of the island is National Park with no visitations apart from the various birds that use the island as a retreat.
“This self-contained island is turnkey ready, and I suggest if you are seeking that sea change or for that private family retreat, then this Island and property is well worth inspecting.
“Some of the most outstanding features apart from the views are the many great white sandy beaches as well as the undisturbed coral with oysters that you can eat directly off the rocks.
“Whales have also been viewed from this aquatic oasis, as they pass in August and return South in September.
“Also inhabiting the Island are sea turtles, which nest in December, followed by hatchlings in January/February.
“Sights such as these are common on glorious Temple Island. The nearest Green Zone is 30 km away, so fishing is abundant.”
Mr Vanhoff said the island is an exceedingly rare property offered as leasehold (95 per cent of Qld Islands are leasehold).
“Negotiations with the DNRM leases can be negotiated two years out from their expiry,” he said.
“Access is easy via a light plane or helicopter from Rockhampton or Mackay Airports, which are serviced by all the major domestic airlines into these two regional airports.
“Alternatively, you can travel by boat from the mainland point of Ilbilbie off Cape Palmerston about an hour south from Mackay.
“You can go fishing, diving, exploring or lie back and watch the sunset with a drink, enjoy the soothing trance-like relaxing effects of a campfire with a few good mates or get lost in a book, it’s entirely up to you.
“Temple Islands pristine coastal environment is practically unchanged since James Cook sailed past.
“All you need to do is unwind and relax, watch the ospreys and sea eagles soaring overhead or white-breasted wood swallows in the flowering grasstrees.
“The amazing private beaches, windswept rocky headlands, mangroves, micro rainforests can be all yours. Watch the whales pass and sea turtles nest, and then follow the hatchlings down to the water with your very own eco experience right on your doorstep.”
The property offers a solar system with sufficient capacity to generate enough power to use from sunset to dawn and plenty in reserve, this system is designed to last in remote areas where there is no grid power.
The property comes equipped with everything you need to be independent with a full range of maintenance and service equipment.
